As someone who’s always on the lookout for new vegetarian & plant-based options, I was intrigued when I stumbled upon Meati’s Classic Steak at Whole Foods Market. Along with our Original White Sourdough Dam Good™ English Muffins and the other ingredients, I picked up everything I needed right there at Whole Foods.
Made from mushroom root, the Meati steak sounded like a great plant-based protein alternative, so I decided to give it a try in a classic steak, egg and cheese sandwich. To my delight, the taste and texture were not just satisfying but downright delicious—it was so Dam Good™ that I had to share this recipe with you! And if you’re not into meat substitutes, feel free to swap in regular steak—it’s just as delicious!

Steak, Egg & Cheese Sandwich Recipe

- 1 Sourdough Original White Dam Good™ English Muffin
- 1/2 Package of Meati Plant-Based Classic Steak
- 1 Egg, scrambled
- 2 slices of Cheddar Cheese
- 1 teaspoon of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Steps
- Preheat the Pan: Begin by preheating a non-stick pan over medium heat for about 3 minutes.
- Prepare the English Muffin: While the pan is heating, fork-split your Dam Good™ Sourdough Original White English Muffin.
- Heat the Olive Oil: Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the hot pan. Let it heat for 2 minutes until shimmering.

- Melt the Cheese: Once the steak is browned, place a slice of cheddar cheese on top of the crumbled steak. Allow the cheese to melt.
- Toast the English Muffin: While the cheese is melting, toast your split Dam Good™ Sourdough English Muffin until golden and crisp.
- Cook the Egg: In the same pan, or a separate one, cook your egg to your preferred style (fried, scrambled, or poached).
- Assemble the Sandwich: Layer the cheesy steak and cooked egg onto the toasted English muffin.
- Enjoy: Serve your steak, egg, and cheese sandwich hot, and enjoy a delicious, protein-packed, Dam Good™ breakfast!
